Shobhit and I finally made it over to Poquitos for their Happy Hour yesterday, soon after I biked home from work. We've been talking about it for seemingly weeks, so I finally just put it on my calendar for Monday to make it officially scheduled and we would actually do it. They have very good Happy Hour food prices. We split both a quesadilla and an order of chips with jalapeno queso dip. Shobhit seemed more inclined to get the one with three different types of salsas but I wanted the queso dip. It was super tasty.

Their Happy Hour drinks aren't quite as good a deal -- $2 off cocktails -- but $9 for their "Coco-rita" was still totally worth it, in my view. I ordered that even though I made myself a margarita at home to drink real quick before we left, in an effort to save money. Shobhit had himself a glass of whiskey, and then a beer at the bar.

We sat at the literal bar. The bartender was a tall, handsome man with blond hair and a weak chin I thought was rather like mine. Shobhit and I both got the strong sense that he was straight, though. Not that it matters; it's not like we were going to pick him up or anything. Anyway, the Happy Hour food itself was good and cheap enough that I think we'll come back. Someday.

Their Happy Hour lasts until 6:00, which made it pretty easy to get there in time since, now that I bike most days, I tend to get home around 5:00. And Poquitos is just a few blocks from home. Also: so much for my effort to lose some pounds before our trip to Vancouver; I was down a couple of pounds for a couple of days but I ate too many snacks at work yesterday. The food at Poquitos seemed light but, let's get real: queso dip is never "light," and neither are tortilla chips. Or a quesadilla with a significant amount of cheese inside it.

It was barely past 6:00 by the time we left there, having been there probably less than half an hour, but we got what we came for and were satisfied with it. We came home and watched some TV -- Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, House of Cards (some interesting parallels to the Fuckwit administration going on this season), a couple episodes of The Golden Girls. That pretty much rounded out my evening.

I didn't spend my lunch break out on the patio today, but I did spend it with Claudia, part of it outside. I IMed her to ask if she wanted to take a walk with me this afternoon at lunch, and although she's apparently very busy until leaving early for the rest of the week, she suggested I come with her walking to the food truck she was going to get her lunch from. So I did that, and it was nice to be outside for a bit. I just ate my own lunch ten minutes early before leaving with her.

And then I sat with her as she ate her lunch at one of the tables in the staff kitchen, and we sure packed a lot of stuff into our conversation for the next half hour or so -- from sex (and I have no idea how well I managed to be subtle about that in regards to people around us) to family and even her family history that is connected to the UK; she has family that lives over there and has a cousin who lost a coworker in last week's terrorist attack, the car plowing into people on London Bridge. But anyway, I don't need to get into great detail about it. It was just a nice time spent hanging out, which I don't get to do often enough with Claudia.

I really need to pee now though so I'm going to post this so I can do that and then get back to work.
