Pretty quiet evening last night. I walked home from work. Quickly took shirts over to the dry cleaner's. Shobhit made a slightly altered dinner dish out of the macaroni and cheese leftovers we brought home from Dad and Sherri's at the end of Easter Sunday, adding sautéed vegetables. It was very tasty. Then we watched HBO shows: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver; season premiere of Veep (they really seem to be doubling down on Selina Meyer being unlikable); the series finale of GIRLS. During that last one Shobhit was a bit annoying asking tons of questions that he'd know the answers to if he'd been watching the series all along or even paid attention to this very episode from the beginning. It was like Grandpa McQuilkin were alive again and in my living room. Grandpa led a pretty long life; I don't see the sense in resurrecting him.

We did the New York Times crossword puzzle. I rarely do anything else on my own when I'm at home these days because the time gets sucked up by watching TV and then doing the crossword. I keep thinking about doing some fiction writing and as long as my evenings are like this it's never going to happen. I'm not blaming Shobhit here. That would be dumb. It's just that I allow this to be how my days pass. Television, crossword, television, crossword. At least next week should be a break in the routine.

I was supposed to go get my teeth cleaned this morning. Unlike a doctor's appointment I had to reschedule a couple of months ago because I totally spaced it even after two reminders, I was pretty proud of myself for actually remembering this one. And then I got a call from Gateway Dental while I was getting ready in the bathroom this morning that the hygienist was out sick today and they needed to reschedule. And the soonest they could get me in around the same time of day was June 7. Wonderful.

I got off the phone and Shobhit, who was on the toilet (meaning I bet anything the woman on the other end of the phone heard his fart echoing off the porcelain), reminded me that I'm taking next week off and don't have to do the very beginning or the very end of the day. Oh, right! So while I was walking downtown I called them back. They're completely booked next week but said if they get any cancellations they will call me.

Well, anyway. I guess that's all I've got for you today. Exciting stuff. I have to get back to work and write up the copy for the second ad in May. Even more exciting stuff!
