Even less to catch you up on today than there was yesterday. I mean, yesterday I wrote a fair amount about Singin' in the Rain, but we didn't watch any movies last night. I did get the DVD Netflix copy of High Noon -- which I added when I learned recently (I can't remember where, which is annoying me) that it was a Western allegory for the Hollywood blacklist -- but didn't watch that one just yet. Maybe tonight?

Instead, I watched a bunch of TV: the first two episodes of the NBC series Trial & Error, which Shobhit had discovered on Hulu and suggested I watch (and it was indeed harmless goofy fun that I will likely continue watching); two episodes of The Mindy Project; one episode of New Girl.

I watch maybe too much TV now. It's so hard not to, when there's so much good TV available! And I still watch some shows that are mediocre at best, which I suppose is kind of dumb. I did see on Hulu there are new episodes available of Last Man on Earth but I think I may have finally given up on that one.

I would guess I average 2-3 hours of TV viewing per day, none of it live (with exceptions like the Academy Awards). I guess that's better than the average of five hours a day, but that doesn't make it great. I haven't written any fiction in a decade, I have several ideas I think are actually great, but the problem there is two-fold: 1) I leave myself little time by seeing movies and watching TV at home all the time; and 2) writing is a solitary exercise that means Shobhit, who constantly wants me to be in his presence, would not get to be around me as much.

Granted, I do still religiously write movie reviews. But that's a one-hour commitment for each review at most, really.

I guess I could mention one new thing that happened yesterday: for the first time -- and it's actually somewhat of a surprise it took over seven months since the office movie for it to happen -- Scott and I left work at the same time. He catches a northbound bus downtown, and he walks there to catch it. So, even though I would have much preferred walking with my headphones in, we walked to Fourth and Pine together. It was still pleasant enough, I guess.

I then walked the rest of the way home listening to music on my iPod. Shobhit had dinner ready when I got home: a quite wonderful stir fry with fried tofu and rice and also using the rest of the veggie ground that had been used for tacos the previous evening. There was enough for me to bring two lunches worth in containers to work today , so I was set for both today and tomorrow.

Weather! We've had an astonishing amount of rain in Seattle this year. more than double the average in February, and on track for the same in March, only halfway through. It got a bit warmer this past week or so, but it has also definitely felt much colder much later in the year than usual. We had a warmer spell last month and it prompted us to turn the heat off in the condo, but when it got cold again, Ivan turned it back on again. (The control panel is in his room.) Now, we've left it on so he can control his thermostat how he wants and we just have the ones in the living room and the master bedroom manually set to lower temperatures instead of on its normal winter automation schedule -- the whole intent here being to save money where we can.

Anyway. Today is a break in the rain. It's been partly cloudy but, so far, no rain. The weather app on my phone shows no rain in the forecast all day; the National Weather Service shows 50% chance of rain today. I didn't bring my umbrella today, and it wasn't until I got to work that I thought -- hey, why didn't I ride my bike! We're on Daylight Saving Time now, after all. Well, it is still kind of chilly. Maybe next week.
